M-Sec project partners to meet in Fujisawa, by Japan’s famous ‘Sustainable Smart Town’, to discuss project progress

In just a few short months, in April 2019 the partners behind the M-Sec project will meet in person in Fujisawa, Japan, for the second project meeting.

Fujisawa is a city located in the south part of the Kanagawa area, with an estimated population of 429,317 people and a population density of 6,171 people per km2.

Nearby, you can find Fujisawa the ‘Sustainable Smart Town’, a 1,000 household, new-build town, which is famous worldwide for being an innovative ‘smart city’ project. As a collaboration between the private and public sectors, this town was built using advanced technology-based infrastructure, designed around actual lifestyles. Residents of the town live, interact and exchange ideas with the town management, who implement new services and technologies to achieve better lifestyles. Every aspect of people’s lives are taken into account, including: energy, security, mobility, wellness, community and also emergencies.

For this reason, Fujisawa is the perfect setting for the second M-Sec project meeting, surrounded by innovative smart city initiatives.

Partners will travel from all over Europe (France, Greece, Spain, Portugal) to meet the Japanese partners, and discuss the current status of the project, as well as future tasks. The next phase of the project will involve defining further the use cases (similar to pilot studies) being carried out in Santander, Spain, and Fujisawa, Japan.
